Birds of Australia

Common Name: Purple-backed Fairy-wren

Scientific Name: Malurus assimilis

The Purple-backed Fairy-wren was my first "armchair tick"

They were regarded as different race of the Variegated Fairy-wren: Malurus lamberti assimilis.
They have became a full species in their own right which I can 'tick" from my armchair.
